Sally Lees has recently joined the British Society of Enamellers and has been selected to have her new work featured in their Autumn showcase this year at Galeri Caernarfon in Wales. Sally Lees is an experienced jeweller and has worked from her studio at Cockpit Arts in London for the past twenty three years. The Guild of Enamellers Bursary Award 2022/2023 The Guild of Enamellers Bursary scheme will be open for applications from 02/01/2023 until midnight on 20/01/2023. An art medal, titled Exit Britannia ,  created by designer and craftsman Fred Wyver has been purchased by the British Museum. The British Hallmarking Council (BHC) publishes guidance on hallmarking of partially constructed items. Assay Offices can apply hallmarks to partially constructed items, providing certain conditions are met. These conditions are designed to ensure that the finished article complies with the Hallmarking Act. British jeweller Alighieri has become the first jeweller to receive NEWGEN support from the British Fashion Council under the restructured sponsorship scheme. BCU Design students showcase bespoke ensembles at opera event

Students from Birmingham City University (BCU)’s Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles showcased their costume and jewellery design skills at a special Voice of Black Opera (VOBO) event last week, creating bespoke ensembles worn by the project’s finalists. Appointment: Pandora picks Alexander Lacik as new CEO

Denmark’s jeweller Pandora has named Alexander Lacik as its new Chief Executive, who will oversee a plan to help the firm regain its competitive edge in a weak retail market. £8000 Silver commission to mark the end of the Great War

Birmingham based British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) receive the commemorative ‘Silence Fell’ silverware to mark the end of the Great War. Vivien Johnston is the original ethical jewellery pioneer. Trained at Glasgow School of Art, she had quickly developed a career as a commercial Jewellery Designer, reaching the position of Head Designer in the early noughties where she was placed in charge of sourcing. The Midlands Engine Investment Fund Debt Finance, managed by Maven Capital Partners, has provided Toye Kenning & Spencer Limited, the oldest continuously operating company in Birmingham, with a £1 million loan to invest in equipment, improve facilities and support growth of the business. One massive diamond, worth more than £30 million, has been recovered by British mining company Gem Diamonds at their Letsing Mine in Lesotho, South Africa. Th e British Fashion Council has announced that its charitable initiative BFC Fashion Trust has awarded grants totalling  £450,000  between eleven designers; the largest donation by the trust to date. New recipients for 2017 are Edeline Lee, Georgia Hardinge, Isa Arfen, Sharon Wauchob and Teatum Jones. Young British jewellery maker Alexander Wood left Abu Dhabi with a champions medal after earning a coveted top 10 place at the 44th WorldSkills Competition recently. The British Fashion Council (BFC) and Swarovski have commissioned Marc Newson to create a bespoke crystal trophy for The Fashion Awards 2016 in partnership with Swarovski which will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 5th December. Created with the resources and technical ability of Swarovski and crafted from Swarovski Crystal, the hexagonal design draws inspiration from crystal clusters and rock structures. The trophies are all handcrafted at Swarovski’s headquarters in Wattens, Austria and will complete an 800 mile journey from there to the Royal Albert Hall in London. Each trophy measure 245mm in height by 67mm wide.
